The Bitten clothing line, by Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker, was carried exclusively at Steve & Barry's stores from 2007-2008, when the retail chain folded. It featured low-cost clothing ranging from jeans to t-shirts, and even designs from reality TV show Project Runway when Sarah Jessica Parker was a guest judge on the show.
Launching the Bitten Line
The line launched in June 2007 after being revealed to the press in March 2007. Sarah Jessica Parker's goal for Bitten was to offer women "simple, well made clothing that they could be proud of."
Bitten was extremely affordable with the majority of items priced under $20, including jeans for $15. The styles were basic, and sizes ranged from 2 to 22. It included printed hoodies, simple dresses, lingerie, and accessories.
Reception to Bitten
The public's reception to Bitten ranged from extremely enthusiastic, especially about the affordability of the clothes and the large range of sizes, to very disappointed.
Poor quality of the merchandise and inconsistent fit were the two main reasons for disappointment. BeautyRiot.com describes the Bitten line as one of the worst celebrity fashion lines produced.
Finding Bitten
Since the Bitten clothing line is no longer produced, pieces can only be found on resale sites like eBay.
New Sarah Jessica Parker Line
Bitten did not mark the end of Sarah Jessica Parker's foray into the fashion industry. In 2014, she launched SJP, a new line of handbags and shoes sold exclusively at Nordstrom. It is a more expensive line than Bitten, with items ranging from $250 to $500.
